June 08, 2014 10:30 am | Updated November 16, 2021 07:02 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

Bhaskaracharya College for Applied Sciences is the only college under Delhi University to offer eight Science courses. With a total of 46 seats with reservations in each department, the college offers popular courses like Computer Science, Food Technology and Biomedical Science. These subjects have been the most sought-after courses of the college till the previous year.

“We have sold approximately 2,300 forms till now and 400 forms to SC and ST applicants. There is a need for better infrastructure as students are coming in from all over the city,” said the bursar of the college.

Accompanied by their parents, many students were seen cautiously filling up their optical mark recognition forms. Many were also seeking help at the information desks to know about the possible course and college options that they could avail.

The facilities available at the Bhaskaracharya College for Applied Courses include a well-maintained library, projectors in every room and two research laboratories per department. Moreover, ramps have been provided for differently-abled persons. The college has also undertaken several e-waste management initiatives like making e-waste bins available at the college.

The college is also offering reservations to children of armed forces personnel martyred in action. Sports admissions at the college will begin on June 16. Students would have to undergo trials on cricket, football and lawn tennis among other sports.

The four-year undergraduate programme may have created a sense of uncertainty for the previous batch, but it has hardly affected the demand of students wanting to get into DU colleges and the number of students who flocked at Bhaskaracharya College remained a testimony to that.
