Arts college HoD removed

In a major relief to students of Visual Communications Department of Delhi College of Arts, the Principal removed the Head of Department on Monday.

The students had written to various bodies, including the State and Union Ministers, demanding the removal of their HoD for his “verbally abusive” behaviour.

“Our previous HoD died due to cancer, and the new one was appointed from another department. It was a struggle for about four to five months, when students were trying to get him removed for being abusive. They had written and appealed to the Principal, the Vice-Chancellor, the State Education Minister and even the Union Minister for Human Resource Development,” said a faculty member.

Letters by the students stated that their HoD was guilty of “using very rude, abusive and filthy language. Provoking, misguiding students and creating differences between them.”

In addition, he was accused of dropping names of powerful politicians he claimed to be familiar with, and hence above the law.

The students had appealed for his immediate removal to prevent any “untoward incident”.
