Another module using fake EWS papers busted

June 25, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:34 am IST - NEW DELHI:

The Delhi Police on Wednesday claimed to have busted another module engaged in providing admissions through fake EWS certificates.

Ravindra Yadav, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime), said the module was headed by one Neeraj who used to charge anything between Rs. 1 lakh and 3 lakh per admission to the Lancer Convent School in North Delhi.

“In the current academic session, he has admitted more than 10 children under the EWS category using fake certificates,” Mr. Yadav claimed.

According to the police, Neeraj disclosed that he became involved after coming in contact with his neighbour Mukesh Sharma, a tutor who was arrested earlier this month for being the mastermind of a school admission racket using fake EWS certificates.

Sharma helped Neeraj in getting his niece admitted to the Bal Bharti School in Pitampura. He learnt the processes involved and met one Nadeem through Sharma from whom he used to procure fake EWS certificates before he began acting independently. Mr. Yadav said information about the racket was received a few months ago, which was further developed with the police cross-checking data pertaining to such admissions from schools with information pertaining to EWS certificates procured from the concerned SDMs.

“Efforts are being made to trace his associates and further investigation regarding involvement of school administration is under progress,” Mr. Yadav added.
