Alleged rape victim questioned by Delhi police for 11 hours

A Delhi Police team is learnt to have questioned the young woman, who had accused activist Khurshid Anwar of raping her, in her hometown in Manipur. The police remained tight-lipped but sources said the alleged rape victim was questioned for around 11 hours while recording her statement on Friday.

Dr. Anwar had jumped off the terrace of his house last Wednesday. As senior police officers remained tight- lipped, sources close to the three-member team comprising two male sub-inspectors and a woman cop said that a statement under Section 161 of the Criminal Procedure Code was recorded before the investigation sleuths of the Delhi Police while a statement under 164 Cr.P.C. was recorded before a first class magistrate of Manipur.

In her versions, the victim corroborated the allegations she had made in a video recorded at activist Madhu Kishwar’s house, said the source, adding that the team had returned to the Capital after a flight was cancelled due to fog the day before.
