Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, on indefinite fast since June 13, was on Monday afternoon shifted to Lok Nayak Hospital from Raj Niwas. He had been staging a sit-in at the L-G house along with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and two Ministers since June 11.

With Mr. Sisodia joining Health Minister Satyendar Jain, who has been on fast since June 12 and was admitted to the hospital on Sunday night, Mr. Kejriwal and Labour Minister Gopal Rai completed one week of their protest at Raj Niwas.

The four Aam Aadmi Party leaders have been demanding that Lieutenant-Governor Anil Baijal put an end to what they call a strike by government officers and clear the proposal for home delivery of ration. Raj Niwas has denied that the officers are on strike.

J.C. Passey, medical superintendent of Lok Nayak Hospital, said that the Health Minister was shifted from Raj Niwas at 11.50 p.m. on Sunday after he complained of headache, nausea, abdomen pain, respiratory difficulties and urine retention. He added that Mr. Jain was not taking food orally and was being given glucose, electrolytes and medication for symptomatic relief intravenously.

“Our team of specialists has examined him again today [Monday] and has advised some investigations. He is likely to be kept in the ICU for the next 24 hours for observation,” he said.
