Adityanath to campaign in Delhi

13 Union Ministers to canvass for BJP in the civic polls

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will be among nine of his colleagues from Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled (BJP) States to campaign for the State unit during the upcoming civic polls in Delhi, the BJP announced on Tuesday.

In addition, according to party sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president Amit Shah may also be invited to canvass for the State unit, apart from over 50 high-profile party faces if all goes in the party’s favour in the Rajouri Garden bypoll on April 13. Chief Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan (Madhya Pradesh), Vasundhara Raje (Rajasthan), Manohar Lal Khattar (Haryana) and Raman Singh (Chhattisgarh ) Devendra Fadnavis (Maharashtra), Sarbananda Sonowal (Assam) and Trivendra Singh Rawat (Uttarakhand) will also campaign for the party in the Capital.

Boosting party appeal

“The Chief Ministers of different States have been roped in to further the party’s appeal in different pockets of the city, where people from their respective States reside. A decision on inviting the Prime Minister and the national president will be taken later,” said a source.

Glamour quotient

The list of the party’s star campaigners also includes 13 Union Ministers including Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley, M. Venkaiah Naidu, Smriti Irani and Ravi Shankar Prasad among others. Apart from Delhi unit president Manoj Tiwari, the party will also seek to add a glam quotient in its campaign through actors Hema Malini and Ravi Kishan.
