The woman in her complaint alleged that she lives in Sadar Bazar with her three children.

Cop befriended her

The accused who was then posted as the SHO of Sadar Bazar police station befriended her on the pretext of helping her. He raped her on several occasions. However, she initially did not report the matter fearing threat to her and her children’s life.

A probe was ordered after the woman reported the matter in July. A senior police officer investigated the allegation against the then SHO and submitted his report to his senior colleague.

On September 17, the woman again filed a complaint at the office of the senior police officer.

Taking cognisance of the allegation, a case was registered in the matter. However, during the probe, the accused police officer claimed that the woman had to repay a huge amount of loan she had taken from him. When he asked her to repay the amount she was unable to do so and made false allegations against him, he claimed.
