AAP to take “horse-trading” by BJP to public

July 17, 2014 10:21 am | Updated November 16, 2021 06:11 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

After crying hoarse over allegation of horse-trading by the BJP, the Aam Aadmi Party has decided to take the issue to the common people. The party is using all the means to connect with the people. Be it through social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter, posters, loudspeakers or recorded messages of Arvind Kejriwal, it is asking the general public to react to the BJP’s attempt to form the government through “horse-trading”.

The AAP on Tuesday claimed that the saffron party was indulging in horse-trading of Congress MLAs to form the government.

The party, in a message to the public, pitched the alleged move by the BJP as some thing which will “facilitate corruption and raise electricity bills”.

“The BJP is trying to form government in Delhi by horse trading Congress MLAs. Is that right? If you want to oppose this move by the BJP then express your disagreement,” said the party. It has also urged the people to give a missed call on a particular number.

The AAP supporters, known to be super-active on social media, have talked so much about the issue that #BJPWedsCongress was trending on Twitter on Wednesday.

The AAP also released a recorded audio message of Mr. Kejriwal accusing the BJP of indulging in horse-trading. The message is now being sent to the people, using different platforms available for disseminating audio information.

“The BJP is resorting to dishonest and highly unethical methods to form the government by offering Rs.20 crore each to many MLAs,” said the message in Hindi. “It is completely wrong. If the BJP forms the government using such illegitimate methods and by spending hundreds of crores, then such a dishonest government will only increase your electricity bills, indulge in corruption and price rise.”

AAP spokesperson Ashutosh told The Hindu that the party decided to take this message to the public in order to have a discourse and discussion on “whether they want a government formed through deceit, through illegal unethical means”.

“Is this the way to form a government? We want to raise this issue with the public. Is this why they voted for Modi,” he asked.

The AAP has now been vigorously advocating for elections to be held in Delhi.
