AAP launches SC/ST wing

Several prominent Dalit personalities join the party

The Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday launched its SC/ST Delhi wing with several prominent Dalit personalities joining the party.

Former MLA from Kondli, Manoj Kumar, will head the party’s SC/ST wing of Delhi.

Among those who joined the party were Kaushal Panwar, assistant professor of Sanskrit at Delhi University, close aide of late Prime Minister V.P. Singh, Chaudhary Itwari Lal, BSP Delhi State unit treasurer H. Ram, and MCD safai karamchari union leader Ashok Kumar Anjana.

Dalit community thanked

Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal thanked the Dalit community of Delhi for extending their support to the AAP and said it reflected in last year’s Assembly elections.

He said ‘Keep India Clean’ (Swachh Bharat Abhiyan) campaign could only succeed if it was taken beyond symbolism and that was possible only by giving respect and importance to the safai karamcharis, a party statement said.
