The condition of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate from Seemapuri Assembly constituency Santosh Koli is critical after she was hit by a speeding car near the Kaushambi metro station in Ghaziabad on Sunday afternoon. This is the second severe attack on an AAP worker after the death of its volunteer Brijlal in Uttar Pradesh.
Ms. Koli has been admitted to Yashoda Hospital in Kaushambi. It all happened on Sunday afternoon when Ms. Koli along with another AAP worker Kuldip was coming to the party office on a motorcycle. Near the Kaushambi metro station, a car started following their vehicle.
“Santosh and another AAP supporter, Kuldeep, were on a motorcycle, travelling at a speed of 40 kmph on a nearly empty road in Ghazaibad. A car came up from behind and despite Kuldeep making way for it, the car hit the bike and drove away. It left behind a critically injured Santosh,” said party spokesperson Aswasthi Muralidharan.

An FIR has been filed against unnamed persons under Section 307, 279, 337, 338 of the Indian Penal Code at Link Road police station, Ghaziabad.
The AAP has not ruled out the possibility of the episode being a conspiracy. “Santosh Koli, our candidate from Seemapuri constituency, has been hit by car. She is in very critical condition. Please pray for her. Is it an accident? Or deliberate?” Arvind Kejriwal tweeted.
“She is a very famous and an active AAP worker in her area. It was at her house that the party leader Arvind Kejriwal organised his fast over ‘inflated’ power bills in March this year. Santosh has been living under a constant threat to her life because of her fearless crusade on Right to Information Act. Two attempts have already been made on her life and today seems to be the third one,” Ms. Muralidharan said.
