The Aam Aadmi Party on Monday wrote to the Election Commission of India alleging “large-scale electoral fraud” in Delhi and sought an independent inquiry into the removal of voters’ names from the rolls since the 2015 Assembly elections.
In a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner O.P. Rawat, AAP spokesperson Raghav Chadha said that the survey conducted after the party had complained to him on November 2 about the deletion of voters was a “farce”. Mr. Chadha wrote that the officers conducting the survey were provided a list of deleted voters that was different from the one on the website of the EC.
He added that during the survey, several constituents said their names had been struck off the rolls, but the list of deleted voters, both the one with the officers and on the website, did not reflect that.

Mr. Chadha said the AAP wanted an independent inquiry into the matter.
AAP national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said in a tweet on Monday: “BJP is losing. This seems to be the last resort of BJP. They have got lakhs of names deleted from voter lists. Hope EC wud take immediate action [sic].”
Meanwhile, the BJP argued that the AAP was accusing it of being behind the deletion of voters from electoral rolls due to frustration arising out of the AAP’s “falling popularity” with Lok Sabha around the corner.

“Frustration has engulfed the AAP and it is apprehensive of loss. Arvind Kejriwal has failed in fulfilling the promises made to the people of Delhi and is making unreasonable statements and attacking the federal system,” Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari said.
