Two persons were killed and four injured in Ghaziabad when a high-tension electrical wire snapped and fell on a tea shop where they were taking shelter from the evening rain on Friday.
The dead men have been identified as Arun Kumar and Bhura, both in the late 30s. Arun was a property dealer with his office in Ghaziabad, while Bhura owned the tea shop where the incident took place. The incident happened around 5 p.m. in Vasundhara Sector 14. The tea shop is located very close to the Jaipuria School in the area.
Arun was among the five men who had sought shelter at the shop from the heavy rain. “All of a sudden, fire broke out in the electric transformer installed near the tea shop. Before the men in the shop could realise and take cover, a high-voltage electric wire snapped and fell on the shop,” said a senior police officer.

The accumulation of water on the shop’s roof and elsewhere caused the electrocution, the officer added.
