A 22-year-old man has been arrested along with his two friends for allegedly murdering a woman teacher in Timarpur in New Delhi earlier this month during robbery. The police claim to have recovered a part of the stolen jewellery and cash.
Prime accused Rahul Prasad Singh, who is the neighbour of the victim, had suffered huge losses in business and hatched a conspiracy along with his friends to commit the robbery, the police said.
Madhu Mehra, a Science teacher at Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya in Nehru Vihar, was found dead in her bed room when one of her relatives, Rajender Prashad, came to visit her on October 2. Her hands and legs were tied up with a piece of cloth and she was gagged.

Ms. Mehra had been staying alone in her second floor flat since the death of her husband and teenaged son a few years ago.
Taking up investigation, the police found the entry to the house was friendly zeroed in on the victim’s neighbour Rahul Prasad, who stays in a flat on the same floor. Rahul broke down during questioning and purportedly confessed to having murdered the woman along with his friends Rahul Gautam (19) and Nadeem Khan (24). Rahul Gautam and Nadeem were later arrested.
The police claim to have recovered a gold chain, 20 national saving certificates and Rs.5,500 in cash from them.

On the fateful day, Rahul Prasad along with his two friends gained entry into the victim’s flat on the pretext of offering her “ prasad ” and overpowered her. When the woman offered resistance, the accused gagged her, the police said.
Rahul Gautam is a student and Nadeem a rickshaw-puller. Both are residents of Ankur Enclave Phase-II in Ghaziabad.
