Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit left for Tokyo on Saturday to attend a summit on development of major Asian cities, of which Delhi is also a part.

The Chief Minister would be attending the ninth plenary meeting of Asian Network of Major Cities (ANMC) along with Chief Secretary Rakesh Mehta, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister P.K. Tripathi and her political secretary Pawan Khera.

The four-member delegation would return to Delhi on November 11.

A note issued by Delhi Government said the concept of Asian Network of Major Cities, popularly known as ANMC-21, was evolved in the first meeting of the four cities -- Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, Seoul and Delhi -- in 2000.

The idea, it said, was to provide an opportunity to Asia to establish a new identity and to develop independently as a world leader.
