Paris offers to share parking expertise with Delhi

Delhi needs the technology developed by Paris to resolve its parking problems, Lieutenant-Governor Tejendra Khanna told the visiting Deputy Mayor of Paris, Christian Sautter, earlier this week.

Delegations led by Mr. Sautter and the Lord Mayor of the German city of Dusseldorf, Dirk Elbers, had called on the Lieutenant-Governor at Raj Nivas here.

The Mayor of Paris offered to share French parking technology with Delhi.

Mr. Khanna said Paris could also provide guidance to the Delhi Government on safe drinking water, better management of the city environment and controlling air pollution, promoting green technology and heritage maintenance.

During the meeting, the European city governments said they wanted to work closely with the Delhi Government in sharing and exchanging thoughts, processes and technology for managing the cities better.

The prime focus of mutual exchange would be on city development, low-cost housing, re-development of degenerated city, riverfront development, traffic management, municipal solid waste management and general technology-sharing.

Mr. Khanna said India shared a strategic partnership with both Germany and France that had its firm basis in strong business and economic links besides science and culture.
