The North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) will be deploying its senior officers to inspect roads for any potholes and ensure speedy repair.

With complaints of potholes and fallen trees increasing in the past two weeks, the NDMC’s top supervisory staff has been asked to conduct daily field inspections.

As per a circular issued on Tuesday, Commissioner P.K. Gupta has asked all Additional Commissioners, the Engineer-in-Chief, the Zonal Deputy Commissioners and Chief Engineers to carry out regular inspections to make sure that the potholes are filled up immediately. The officials will be submitting a daily report.

At a meeting of the Standing Committee on Wednesday, officials said that the civic body had repaired 1,619 sqkm of road since July 1.

The NDMC’s store has 102 barrels of bitumen, which is used in constructing roads, available for emergency repairs.

Meanwhile, the staff of the Horticulture Department will be visiting municipal parks to check whether the swings, gates, benches and other fixtures have not been damaged by storms.

They will also be inspecting electrical cables at the parks to make sure none of them are exposed or damaged, which can electrocute visitors when it rains.
