: Over 10 days after a German woman registered a case of molestation against her landlord in south Delhi’s Hauz Khas, the police are yet to arrest the man.
When asked about the delay, the police said they were waiting for the victim, a research scholar, to record her statement before the magistrate.
“We have sent an e-mail to the victim requesting her to come to India and record her statement before the magistrate. A reminder mail was also dropped on Saturday, but the victim is yet to respond,” said ADCP-I (South) Chinmoy Biswal. The incident took place on November 30, when the woman had gone to meet accused Amit Yadav to settle bills. A police officer said the victim had used the restroom in Amit’s house and as soon as she came out, he tried to kiss her and made sexual advances towards her.

Victim escapes
The woman, however, managed to escape when Amit’s son’s entered the room. Later, she shared her ordeal with friends, who suggested that she approach the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW).
A complaint was subsequently registered with the DCW. A notice was issued by the Commission to the police on December 27 and a case under Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of woman) of the IPC was registered

The police said Amit’s house was found locked when they had gone there to question him.
