Mother fakes girl’s abduction

August 04, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:35 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Inspired by TV show ‘Savdhan India’, a 30-year-old woman allegedly staged the kidnapping of her daughter to frame a neighbour, said the police.

After the girl was traced to the woman’s maternal home in Ranchi, the police have now decided to book her for lodging a false FIR.

According to the police, the woman studied all the points where CCTV cameras were installed near her house and around Nizamuddin station from where she made the girl and a nephew board a train to Ranchi, said a police officer.

“On July 30, the husband of the woman approached us saying that their daughter had not returned from school. During the probe the woman said she suspected her neighbour, Deenanath, to be behind the abduction,” said a police officer.

There were inconsistencies in her revelations about her own locations on the day of the “kidnapping”, said the police. When her location was traced to Sarai Kale Khan, the police suspected that she had gone to Nizamuddin station. “We learnt that the woman hailed from Ranchi and around the time when she was near Nizamuddin station, Utkal Express which goes via Ranchi was scheduled to leave,” said the officer.

The police alerted Ranchi police which confirmed that the child was indeed at her mother’s maternal home.
