A 55-year-old man and his married daughter were found stabbed to death at their residence in Maujpur here on Saturday. The police suspect the hand of the daughter’s estranged husband who is absconding.
The sensational double murder came to light when Ramchander Sharma’s landlady found him and his daughter Seema (30) lying in a pool of blood in their ground floor accommodation in the evening. The matter was reported to the police and the bodies were shifted to a hospital for post-mortem. The police said the woman was probably strangled before being stabbed.
Seema’s four-year-old son was present in the house when the murders took place. Her two-year-old daughter was away with the landlady.

Investigation revealed that Seema and her husband Rajkumar had not been getting along well for the past few years and she had gone to stay with her father a few of months ago along with her son and daughter.
“Rajkumar was working as a driver with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi on an ad hoc basis at the time of marriage. He later lost his job. He began harassing Seema for money and sometimes beat her up. Seema left Rajkumar’s house a few months ago and began staying with her father, a carpenter. Rajkumar kept visiting his father-in-law to take her back. But she was not willing to return. It often led to altercation between them. The two again fell out over the same issue on Friday,” said a police officer.
“Rajkumar was seen loitering around in the area on Saturday afternoon. He is absconding since the murders came to light. He is the prime suspect. We are looking for him,” he said. A murder case has been registered.
