Man held for selling heroin

A 24-year-old man, who had allegedly been selling drugs to teenagers, was arrested from Seema Puri area. The accused has admitted to have made nearly 5,000 teenagers in parts of Seelampur and Ghaziabad border addicted to heroin over the past few months, said the police.

The accused has been identified as Munna, a resident of the area. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Nupur Prasad said a total of 273.45 gm of heroin was recovered from his possession. A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was registered at the Seema Puri police station.

Over 2,000 packs a day

According to the police, his associates have been identified as Salman, Sonu and Pampu. Salman and Sonu brought heroin from Bareilly and give it to Munna who sold it in areas like Shaheed Nagar, Ghaziabad and Seemapuri.

Ms. Prasad said that the contraband was concealed in packets of different weights. On any given day, they used to sell 2,000 packets of heroin and each packet costs Rs. 300, she said.

Nearly 5000 boys affected

In one month, they made ₹1.5 crore from selling heroin packets. It has been found that they were selling heroin packets to almost 4,000-5,000 boys, she added. Police have also identified 18 boys who were addicted to heroin.
