Delhi Lieutenant-Governor Tejendra Khanna revisited the Commonwealth Games Village on Tuesday to see the progress made by the developers and the contractors in clearing up the area and giving it a facelift.

Mr. Khanna had last visited the Games Village on June 25 and ordered cleaning of the surrounding area. Mr. Khanna had particularly voiced his concern about clearing the spaces in front of the Village where the polyclinic, the car parking and a 1.8 hectare green are supposed to come up.

On Tuesday Mr. Khanna also reviewed the plan by Delhi Development Authority to create the ‘green area’ in the next 15 days as with the onset of monsoon it would be easier to develop and maintain the greens.

Expressing satisfaction with the pace of work and the manner in which more building towers were being handed over to Delhi Development Authority on a day-to-day basis by the developers and contractors, Mr. Khanna asked DDA officials and the contractors to work round the close to ensure that the pending work was completed soon in the most professional manner.

Having already set a deadline of July 20 for the Horticulture Department to complete the plantation work, the Lieutenant Governor said he would against visit the site on July 20 to see if the work got over on time.

Mr. Khanna also visited the Yamuna Sports Complex which is the venue for archery and table tennis games. It was stated by Raj Niwas that the visit of Mr. Khanna was aimed at ensuring that all the pending work, including the final finishing touches, were completed within the stipulated time in both the complexes.
