The Delhi High Court has issued notices to Delhi Technological University and Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology on a petition seeking directions to them to conduct counselling for Scheduled Tribes category students from Delhi for admission to Bachelor of Engineering course for the current academic session.
The notices were issued this past Friday on a petition filed by Raikom Terang, an aggrieved candidate, who has claimed that these two institutions had not yet announced the counselling schedule for admission of students in the Delhi ST category.
The petition also seeks to restrain DTU and NSIT from implementing a reduction of reservation percentage for ST from 7.5 per cent to 1 per cent.

The last day for admissions to these two institutions was Monday (August 31), while classes have begun for most academic programmes.
Both these institutions offer 85 per cent seats for Delhi candidates and the remaining for outside Delhi.
Mr. Terang is a ST category candidate hailing from Assam, who completed his schooling from Delhi and appeared for a combined entrance examination.

The candidates successful in this examination are eligible for admission to B.E. course at NSIT and DTU, formerly the Delhi College of Engineering.
DTU Vice-Chancellor P. B. Sharma confirmed a notice had been received and said the University would submit its response by September 15.
The matter has been posted for hearing on September 16.
