A trial run along the new metro line from Yumuna Bank to Anand Vihar in East Delhi New Delhi on Tuesday.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation on Tuesday received formal clearance from the Commissioner for Metro Railway Safety for introduction of commercial services between the Yamuna Bank and Anand Vihar metro stations.

Commercial services on this line will begin from 6 a.m. on Thursday with alternate trains going towards Noida and Anand Vihar, respectively from the Dwarka side.

“The Yamuna Bank metro station will now be an important interchange/bifurcation point for passengers and keeping this in view the platforms at this station have been specially designed and planned. The Yamuna Bank station will have island platforms at the same level. Platforms 1 and 2 will cater for trains bound for Noida while platforms 3 and 4 will handle traffic going to and fro from Anand Vihar. As per the operation plan, trains originating from Dwarka Sector 9 will head towards Anand Vihar and trains starting from Dwarka will go up to Noida City Centre,” said a DMRC spokesperson.

“If a passenger is travelling from Dwarka on a train which is not going to his required destination he has to get down at Yamuna Bank and interchange by walking a few steps to the other side of the same island platform.”

Trains coming from Dwarka and heading towards Noida City Centre will come on to platform 1, while trains heading towards Anand Vihar will come on to platform 3. A person coming from Dwarka will just have to walk across the platform to change trains for Anand Vihar or Noida City Centre as required.

Similarly, platforms 2 and 4 are on either side of the same island platform and trains from Noida City Centre heading towards Dwarka side will come on to platform 2, while trains from Anand Vihar will come on to platform 4.
