Five arrested for e-wallet fraud

The Delhi police on Tuesday said they have arrested five persons for allegedly calling PayTm account holders and debit card users and convincing them to divulge their bank details.

They allegedly lured the victims by promising “reward points” and said that to redeem them i.e. exchanging the points for money, they would have to share their bank details. The Delhi Police said that Mohit Kumar (21), Gaurav Kumar (24), Atul Rawat (24), Pramod Kumar (28) and Varun (30) would call people and lure them on the pretext of giving them certain offers.

They said that the accused belong to good families and two of them are graduates of Delhi University colleges. Seventy one sim cards, 16 mobile phones and 150 pages of details of credit card holders were recovered from them.
