Delhi gets human rights panel

The Delhi government constituted the State Human Rights Commission on Saturday.

The commission will be headed by Meghalaya Chief Justice (retd.) Umanath Singh.

A committee comprising the Delhi Chief Minister, Speaker of the Delhi Assembly, Leader of Opposition and the Home Minister unanimously agreed on Justice Singh as the chairperson and social activist Raj Mangal Prasad as the member.

The Chief Justice of India had criticised the Delhi government on December 10 last year for not having a State Human Rights Commission.
