In an attempt to encourage excellence among students and faculty, Delhi Technological University is planning to introduce several incentives for them.
The University is instituting merit scholarships for toppers of each branch of Bachelor of Engineering and B. Tech. courses as well as M. Tech./ MBA programmes.
Under the scheme, the top ranker in each semester examination will be awarded a cash prize of Rs.10,000 and a certificate of merit, while the second rank holder will be given a cash prize of Rs.5,000 along with a merit certificate.

These awards will be conferred on the basis of academic merit of a candidate .
Similarly, in a move to encourage DTU faculty members to publish their research work in journals, the University has decided to award a prize of Rs.11,000 and a certificate of recognition to every faculty member, who is able to publish a paper in an international journal of repute having a high impact factor.
The publication will be judged as worthy of the award by the committee of deans of the University.

Both the schemes were approved at the first meeting of the Board of Management held today on the DTU campus chaired by founder Vice-Chancellor of the University Prof. P.B. Sharma.
The V-C apprised the members of the Board about the activities and developments that have taken place at the University ever since it was upgraded into a University from a technical institution.
“The Board also advised to set up a staff college at the University for training and mentoring faculty. The college will conduct faculty development and training programs for both new recruitments as well as experienced faculty members of not just DTU but other institutions as well,” said a University official.
“It was also suggested to set up an ‘innovation fund’ at DTU with an initial amount of Rs.20 lakh to encourage research and innovations, both at the student and faculty level,” the official added.
The University has added almost 240 seats in B. Tech., 108 seats in M. Tech. and 60 seats in MBA from this academic session.
To meet the increased academic and infrastructure requirements due to this additional intake, DTU will be constructing a 250-seater girls’ hostel, a 500-seater boys’ hostel, a multi-storey academic block and a teaching block housing modern ICT-enabled lecture theatres in near future .
