Contract-killer held in Delhi

A notorious gangster allegedly involved in 37 cases of contract killing, murder, attempt to murder and robbery has been arrested by the Special Cell of the Delhi police.

Vinod Rana alias Rahul, a resident of Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh, carried a reward of Rs.50,000 and Rs.15,000 on his head announced by the Delhi and Madhya Pradesh police respectively.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police Sanjeev Kumar Yadav arrested Vinod when he came to meet his accomplice in Dwarka on August 26. A Chinese pistol, four live cartridges and an Indica car were allegedly seized.

Vinod purportedly told the police that he took to crime in 1996 when he along with his accomplices Ajju Sharma, Raman and Dhiraj killed one Lokinder alias Kallu. In 1998, he allegedly killed a salesman at a liquor shop in Gwalior following an argument with him. In 2001, he along with Ajju allegedly made a murderous attack on a policeman in Bhopal following some dispute over money. In mid-2006, he along with his accomplices allegedly murdered Aligarh MLA Malkhan Singh.
