The Opposition came together on Monday to attack the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government over issues ranging from a house collapse in west Delhi’s Uttam Nagar to the alleged incomplete desilting of the Capital’s streets before the monsoon.
Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay, at a press conference on Monday, termed the Arvind Kejriwal-led government “a killer”.
Mr. Upadhyay accused the “criminal negligence of this government” for “many deaths” in as many as three recent incidents.

The Delhi BJP chief, who met the family members of those who died in the house collapse in Uttam Nagar and of bike rider Praveen Kumar who was killed after falling in a pothole in Vasant Kunj, said: “The criminal negligence of Water Minister Kapil Mishra, MLA Naresh Balyan, local DJB officials and the DSIIDC Officials laying the sewer line in the area are responsible for the incident of building collapse in Mohan Garden of Uttam Nagar today in which three persons were killed.”
The BJP leader also alleged negligence on part of the Public Works Department and held it responsible for Mr. Kumar's death adding that he “strongly condemns” the reaction of PWD Minister Satyendra Jain on both incidents.
Meanwhile, Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken hit out at Mr. Kejriwal, who is in Dharamshala to attend a 10-day Vipassana session, for being away as the Capital struggled with the monsoon.

“Monsoon is the most crucial time for any city and in this time it is very sad that the CM is going for meditation. His main priority should be Delhi and its people who showed faith in him. The city is facing problems like waterlogging and diseases. Delhi needs its CM the most,” the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee chief said.
Mr. Maken also blamed the Delhi government for not completing the desilting of roads on time.
“The deadline for desilting the roads was June 15, but according to a PWD report, out of over 1,000 roads only 311 have been desilted so far, which is only 30 per cent. There is no logic in desiliting after the arrival of monsoon. It is criminal negligence due to which a man was killed in Vasant Kunj. Last year also many such accidents occurred because of the government’s negligence,” Mr. Maken added.
