Centre directs Delhi Govt to prepare action plan for unauthorised colonies

The Central Government on Tuesday directed the Delhi Government to prepare a detailed action plan aimed at improving basic amenities in the unauthorised colonies in the city.

Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu convened a meeting on Tuesday regarding the issue which was attended by Delhi Chief Secretary D.M Spolia. Sources said Mr. Naidu directed the CS to prepare the plan at the earliest.

“Action plan needs to have a roadmap to expedite the process of preparing the layout plan of the 895 unauthorised colonies that were regularised in 2012. Besides, the authorities have also been asked to prepare a detailed plan on how relief on certain fronts could be provided to the residents in around 700 unauthorised colonies awaiting regularisation,” an informed source said.

Delhi BJP leaders led by president Satish Upadhyay had recently met Mr. Naidu demanding the Central Government to give permission for regularising colonies which have come up till 2013. The meeting was attended by all seven MPs from Delhi, municipal councillors apart from the Urban Development Secretary of Delhi, all the three Municipal Commissioners, senior officers of DJB, DDA, CPWD, NDMC were also present.
