Several senior Delhi BJP leaders reached out to shopkeepers and traders in the Walled City on Wednesday seeking support for the proposed Delhi bandh this coming Friday.
The BJP has given the bandh call to protest against price rise and a host of other issues.
Led by Delhi BJP president O. P. Kohli, the leaders interacted with shopkeepers and traders in Chawri Bazar, Chandni Chowk, Lahori Gate, Khari Baoli, Qutub Road, Bara Tooti Chowk and Sadar Paharganj.

Appealing to the shopkeepers to keep their business establishments closed on November 13, the leaders alleged that the present regime in Delhi was “anti-traders” and the harsh memories of the sealing and demolition drives were still fresh in the minds of the business community. Traders are not safe in the Capital and are being robbed in broad daylight, the leaders said.
Stating that the Delhi Government was “insensitive” towards the plight of the common man, the leaders said the “anti-people” decisions of the ruling party in increasing school tuition fees, withdrawal of power subsidy and hike in DTC bus fares had put an unbearable economic burden on the common man. The Government was now mulling over increasing water tariffs and cooking gas cylinder rates, they said.
Criticising the Government for increasing the bus and metro rail fares, the BJP leaders said the public transport should be cheap.
