Delhi BJP president O.P. Kohli on Monday announced that the party would enforce a Delhi bandh this coming Friday in protest against the sharp increase in the prices of essential commodities and the failure of the Congress government in Delhi and at the Centre to provide relief to the people.

Addressing a press conference, Prof. Kohli said the party leaders have established contact with market associations to ensure success of the bandh. The party has also asked all its legislators and councillors to ensure that the protest is a total success.

To inform the people about the reasons for the bandh, he said pamphlets would be distribution at various places including Mother Dairy outlets and DTC bus depots and bus shelters.

However, Prof. Kohli said it would be ensured that the public at large does not suffer in any way due to the bandh and for this reason the protest would exempt all public utilities including transport.

Meanwhile, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president J. P. Agarwal has accused the BJP of trying to make political capital in the name of price rise. Claiming that there was no abnormal increase in the prices of commodities, he charged that power-hungry BJP leaders were trying to fool the people by raising the issue.
