Air France and Lufthansa operated flights from India to Paris and Munich on Tuesday after a six-day disruption caused by volcanic ash from Iceland but services to other European destinations remained suspended.
Hopes of an early resumption of flights by Indian carriers to London faded on Tuesday evening with the British authorities ruling out opening of Heathrow and Gatwick airports.
There was no word from the authorities in Brussels and Frankfurt for resumption of flights to the two cities.

Indian carriers mainly operate flights to London, Frankfurt and Brussels in Europe. Air France and Lufthansa became the first airlines to resume services to Europe from India on Tuesday. An Air France flight from Delhi left for Amsterdam, instead of Paris, in the early hours carrying only passengers who were willing to go to the Dutch capital instead of Paris and take alternative modes of transport to their final destinations.
Lufthansa's morning Delhi-Munich flight left on schedule and the German carrier announced that all other flights out of Delhi and Mumbai would be operated on time. “Munich airport opened for limited operation today,” said the airline.
