Launching the first of several public meetings in the Capital ahead of the Assembly polls, the Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday promised 8 lakh new jobs over five years for the youth of the city if voted to power apart from education loans, more colleges and free wi-fi in the entire city.
Termed ‘Delhi Dialogue’, the party’s first ‘blueprint’ was aimed at the city’s young people even though the majority who had assembled in Jantar Mantar were well past their youth. The party in the next weeks and months will hold more such meetings focussed on women’s safety, unauthorised colonies and water and power crisis that will cater to different sections of the society, said party leaders.
The AAP convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, highlighted the issue of admissions faced by students who have completed schooling and identified the main cause of the problem as the lack of infrastructure in the education sector. “In the last 15 to 20 years, not a single college has been built in the city even though population has kept growing. Now, it will be the government’s responsibility to get them admission,” he said.

Mr. Kejriwal said his party will ensure that the number of existing seats in colleges is doubled apart from building 20 new colleges in the city. He also promised to build colleges in the villages of Delhi and urged people to give up land for educational institutions whilst guaranteeing admissions to the youth of the area.
