Six Bangladeshi nationals have been arrested in connection with armed robberies and firing at an officer in the Capital, the police said on Tuesday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Pankaj Singh said the accused have been identified as Islam, Ikram, Sohail, Harun, Appan and Suttan Sheikh.
They allegedly broke into the house of an elderly couple in Preet Vihar on July 5, thrashed them and robbed jewellery worth a few lakhs, the police said.

On July 27, the accused were attempting dacoity in a house in the same area when the police control room received a distress call.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Lokesh and Delhi Home Guard reached the spot and saw the accused, the police said.
“Mr. Lokesh asked them to surrender but they tried to flee. He nabbed one accused, which led to a scuffle. One of the accused hit the officer on the head and fired at him,” Mr. Singh said.

Managed to flee
Taking advantage of the situation, all accused managed to flee, he added.
The injured policeman was shifted to a hospital for treatment. Commissioner of Police Amulya Patnaik met him on Tuesday.
During investigation, the police found a bag belonging to the accused.
With help of clues, Ikram was arrested from Kanpur Central railway station. The others were arrested based on information from him, the police said.
During interrogation, they allegedly told the police that Ikram was well aware of east Delhi as he was a resident of the area.
“He is in contact with other Bangladeshis, both in Delhi and Bangladesh. To earn a quick buck, he decided to commit robberies and roped in other members,” Mr. Singh said.
He added that the accused have committed dacoities in Kerala and Bengaluru as well.
The police claimed to have recovered a Bangladeshi passport, jewellery, two countrymade pistols, two mobile phones, two knives among other articles from the accused.
