Of the 16,118 flats it allotted through the 2010 DDA Housing Scheme, only 11,340 have been taken possession of by the allottees. This was revealed in a reply to an unstarred question posed by a member in the Lok Sabha to the Union Ministry of Urban Development.
The reasons stated by the DDA for nearly 5,000 flats yet to be taken possession of are that some of the allottees are yet to report at the site with all the requisite documents for taking possession, while in a few cases the defects pointed out by the allottees were being rectified. The flats can be handed over only after the rectification work is complete.
The DDA admitted that in some flats electricity connections, internal wiring, street lighting and work on roads were still progressing. It said that it has asked the agencies concerned like power distribution companies, civic agencies and others to complete the work within a couple of months.

The 2010 DDA Housing Scheme was announced in November 2010 and the computerised draw to select allottees was conducted in April 2011. The DDA started issuing demand letters to the allottees from October 2011 which continued through the early months of 2012.
