No suicide note recovered, say police

The incident happened at Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital on Friday.

A 37-year-old patient admitted to Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital allegedly committed suicide in the early hours of Friday. No suicide note has been recovered, the police said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Rajneesh Gupta said Jamil, a resident of Kanjhawala, jumped from the third floor of the general ward. “He was admitted on July 2 to get his tuberculosis treated. His brother was attending to him,” Mr. Gupta said.

The police said Jamil’s brother took him to the washroom around 2.30 a.m. and then back to his bed. “The brother then went to sleep outside the ward. It appears that Jamil has committed suicide between 3 a.m and 6 a.m.,” Mr. Gupta said.
