A massive fire broke out at a wedding venue in North West Delhi’s Netaji Subhash Place in the early hours of Tuesday. Three persons, including a police officer and a fire officer, sustained injuries, the police said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North West) Vijayanta Arya said that the injured have been identified as Delhi Police head constable Ravinder, DFS officer Satish and catering employee Ankit.

The police said that the call was received at 12:20 a.m. regarding fire at a wedding pandal near NSP metro station. “When the police reached the spot, it was found that there was fire in two pandals, one where a wedding function was going on and another which was empty,” Ms. Arya said.
About 12 police officers along with fire officers started the evacuation process and 22 fire tenders were pressed into service. “About 400 people were at the wedding venue and all of them were safely evacuated by the police and fire department officers. In the process of evacuation, two officers sustained injuries,” Ms. Arya said.

All the three injured were rushed to the hospital where they were given treatment and later discharged. The fire was brought under control after a few hours.
Ms. Arya said that a case under Sections 285 (negligent conduct with respect to fire ), 336 (act endangering life ), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life ) and 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered and further investigation is on to ascertain the cause of fire.
