29 stray dogs caught from East Delhi hospitals

September 20, 2014 09:27 am | Updated April 20, 2016 05:30 am IST - NEW DELHI:

A total of 29 stray dogs were recently caught by the East Delhi Municipal Corporation from the premises of the Guru Teg Bahadur and Swami Dayanand hospitals and sent for sterilisation.

EDMC Standing Committee chairperson B. B. Tyagi said on Friday that the canines were caught by dog catching vans and handed over to an NGO for sterilisation and immunisation. However, due to a Supreme Court ruling the dogs will soon be back at the hospitals as relocation is not allowed.

“We have to put back the dogs at the spot where they were picked up from, but they will not be dangerous anymore after the sterilisation,” said EDMC spokesperson Y. S. Mann.
