: The Delhi Police’s Special Cell has busted an inter-State syndicate of illegal arms suppliers with the arrest of two persons and seizure of 18 pistols.
Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell), said a team had been working for the past few weeks to crack down on the gang that was allegedly manufacturing weapons in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district and selling them to criminals in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan.

On Friday, a police team was dispatched to Mathura Road after it was learnt that the prime suspect, Praveen Chaudhary, would be headed to Delhi from Faridabad in a Swift car. Barricades were put up on the road and the checking of vehicles initiated.
Cops give chase
It was around 8.30 p.m. that the team noticed the car they were looking for. The vehicle was signalled to stop, but the driver allegedly tried to speed away. The police gave chase to the car, and it was intercepted a few metres ahead.

When the vehicle was checked, 18 sophisticated pistols and 25 magazines were found in a cavity that had been created in the boot.
Two men, including Praveen, were arrested. A case under the Arms Act was registered and a probe initiated.
