Property dispute found to be the motive behind murder

Four days after a 45-year-old builder was shot dead in broad daylight in outer Delhi’s Ranhola, a 25-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday in connection with the case. The motive behind the murder was found to be a property dispute.

Accomplices

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Seju P. Kuruvilla said that the accused identified as Sahil alias Pradeep Tomar, a resident of Nangloi, and his three accomplices, including a close relative Sunil Kumar Punia shot the victim, Rajender Goel, dead on July 28 around 9 a.m.

During investigation, the police said, they found that Rajender was involved in several litigations in different courts as he was a builder. “While examining the cases, it was found that one Sunil Kumar had filed a petition in Tis Hazari court to restrict the entry of Rajender from a property in Nihal Vihar,” Mr. Kuruvilla said.

When Rajender’s family and co-workers were informed about this petition, they told police that Sunil had threatened him of dire consequences a few months ago.

The police then raided Sunil’s residence. He was absconding. Police teams were informed that Sunil’s relative Sahil was also with him on the day of the incident. “ Based on a tip-off, Sahil was arrested from Najafgarh. He confessed to killing Rajender along with Sunil and two others,” Mr. Kuruvilla said.
