R. Jothi, wife of Rajendran, a construction worker from Ettimadai, petitioned the District Collector M. Karunagaran seeking medical assistance for her husband who suffered electrical shock while at work in January this year.
She told the Collector that after suffering electrical shock around 8.30 a.m., his employer, a contractor, rushed him to a private hospital in Madukkarai and from there to another hospital in Kuniamuthur after the doctors at the first hospital said that it was a medico-legal case.
From there, the doctors decided to shift her husband Rajendran to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital after his medical condition reached a stage where his leg was supposed to be amputated. But they decided against doing so after the contractor gave an undertaking to bear the medical expenses.

After 52 days, the doctors at the private hospital discharged her husband without giving a medical report and completing the treatment. Her husband was not fully cured. At present, she had no evidence to prove that her husband underwent treatment at the private hospital.
Children's future
Ms. Jothi also said that unable to continue treatment, her husband was suffering at home. At stake was their children’s future.

Collector Mr. Karunagaran directed the officials to ensure that Mr. Rajendran was admitted to the CMCH. He also asked them to take care of his medical expenses as per the norms of the farmers’ protection scheme.
