Woman accused of kidnap: HC orders investigation

The Madras High Court has directed the Coimbatore City Police to investigate into the case of a woman accused of kidnapping a senior citizen, marrying him and grabbing his property by forging documents.

According to the police, Theresa and two others, Mani alias Hasan and Sakilabanu, had kidnapped Renold Cruze (62) of Ramanathapuram on February 1.

Later, Theresa had married Renold allegedly with the intention of grabbing his properties.

Following this, Royan Rosely Jerold Cruze (36), Renold Cruze’s son, had approached the Madras High Court.

Case registered

Based on the court orders, the Ramanathapuram police registered a case on Saturday and invoked Sections 363 (kidnapping), 465 (forgery), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 420 (cheating) and 511 (punishment for attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life or other imprisonment) of the Indian Penal Code. Further investigations are on.
