A board cautioning vehicle users on the movement of wild animals placed along Gundri forest road in Kadambur hills.

To caution road users on the movement of wild animals, warning boards were installed at Gundri forest area in Kadambur hills here.

Many tribal hamlets are located inside the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve that can be reached only after passing through roads inside the forest area. Wild elephants, tigers and leopards cross these roads at many places and road users take pictures of the animals which sometimes result in human-animal conflict. Hence, to prevent such incidents, the forest department started installing warning boards at many places in the Kadambur – Gundri and Kadambur – Makkampalayam roads.

Officials warned road users not to take selfies or pictures of the wild animals while they pass through the forest road as animals may attack the people.

Also, they were asked to avoid using the road during night hours as wild animals frequently move in the stretch. But, people in the tribal hamlets located in the hills said that in the absence of bus service, they have to reach their villages only by two-wheelers.

They said that despite knowing the risk involved, they have no other option, but to use the forest road during night hours.
