Vocational Excellence Award conferred on city doctors

The Rotary Coimbatore Heritage on Saturday presented its Vocational Excellence Award to P. Periyaswamy, Chief Urologist and Managing Director of Abirami Hospital here.

According to a press release, Kamlesh V. Raheja, District Governor Elect, presented the award during a function here recently.

He said that Rotary had instituted this award to recognise people who maintain ethical standards.

Kavidasan, Director, Roots Industries, lauded Dr. Periyaswamy’s works in endo-urological procedures.

Others who spoke during the award function include A. Raja, Consultant General and laparoscopic surgeon, A. Murugananthan, Past President of Association of Physicians of India. In his acceptance speech Dr. Periyaswamy said that he would work towards providing affordable and quality health care.

The Rotary Club of Coimbatore Cotton City presented its Vocational Excellence Award to Praveen Raj, Head, Department of Obesity and Diabetes Surgery, Gem Hospital. In his acceptance speech, Dr. Praveen explained the need for India-based research guidelines and how bariatric surgery helped tackle the obesity-related co-morbidities.
