It is exploring a business model relevant to Tamil Nadu.

IT Power, the U.K.-based energy consultancy firm, is looking at developing solar projects on wind farms in Tamil Nadu.

Keith Lovegrove, Head of Solar Thermal of the IT Power Group, who was here to participate in the Solar Energy Investment and Technology Forum 2013 organised by UBM India, told The Hindu on Tuesday that the company was exploring a business model that would be relevant to Tamil Nadu.

The State had both, wind and solar resources. It had identified some wind farm sites to explore the feasibility of having a combined solar project.

The land and power evacuation facilities were already available for the wind farm. The land locked in these farms could be used to set up solar panels.

“We are looking for investors for the solar component,” he said. If these could be combined with energy storage facilities, then the potential is high.

“We can do turnkey projects for those interested.” The evacuation feasibility of the energy generated from such a combined project should be studied for each site, he added.
