Two killed, 28 injured in road accident in Krishnagiri

Two persons were killed and 28 injured after a car collided with a mini bus near Thanda Kuppam, on Krishnagiri – Chennai National Highway on Saturday morning. In the impact, the car and the bus were completely gutted.

The police said Haris (40) of Bangalore with eight of his family members were on their way to a relative's house in Sholingur, Vellore. Around 5.45 a.m. when the car was nearing Thanda Kuppam, the bus suddenly entered the highway from a sub-road. Haris, who was driving the car lost control and the car hit the diesel tank of the bus. In the impact, both the vehicles caught fire and it soon spread. Monisha (13) who sustained severe injuries died on the spot, while Haris died on the way to a hospital in Bangalore.The injured include, Vijaya (35), Vasu (35), Babu (30), Padma (35), John (10), Rohit (9), a three-year-old child and a nine-month-old baby, who were travelling in the car. They were admitted to Government Hospital in Krishnagiri and later shifted to a hospital in Bangalore. As many as 20 persons in the bus suffered injuries and were also admitted to Government Hospital in Krishnagiri.

Fire and Rescue Service personnel from Bargur and Krishnagiri rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control in an hour. The driver of the bus Murugan fled from the scene after the accident.
