Two held for robbing train passenger

Railway police on Tuesday arrested S. Prakash (17) of Thiruthuraipoondi, and D. Balaji (17) of Sukrwarpet on charges of robbing a passenger of his purse and 16.25 sovereigns of gold jewellery while on board the Island Express from from Bangalor

Railway police on Tuesday arrested S. Prakash (17) of Thiruthuraipoondi, and D. Balaji (17) of Sukrwarpet on charges of robbing a passenger of his purse and 16.25 sovereigns of gold jewellery while on board the Island Express from from Bangalore.

Railway Police Inspector M. Lawrence said, Biju, son of V.P. Balan of Palakkad was travelling to Palakkad in the train from Bangalore.

Two persons boarded the train at Bangarpet and occupied berths near Mr. Biju's berth.

When Mr. Biju returned from toilet, he found his purse missing and bag slightly open.

Immediately he complained to the police personnel on duty on board the train.

Constables Elangovan and Karthik conducted a search and traced the purse and jewellery from the two.
