Two get lifer for murder

Principal District and Sessions Judge, N. Seshasayee convicted and sentenced two persons to serve life term and six months imprisonment for their two accomplices here on Thursday in connection with a murder in broad daylight on the Mettupalayam Road in July 2011.

Public Prosecutor of the Principal District Judge Court and Government Pleader K. Arumugam said that R. Santhosh alias Santhosh Kumar (29) was killed after a clash with the gang of four at the bar attached to a TASMAC outlet, near ARC Junction on the Mettupalayam Road on July 10, 2011.

He said that Santhosh and his friend K. Karthik (24) were consuming alcohol in the bar. The accused N. Ramachandran (24), M. Krishnan (28), R. Murugan (22) and P. Ganeshan (31) were at another table. A wordy duel culminated in exchange of blows. Ramachandran and Krishnan attacked the victim with a stone and the gang fled the place. The victim died at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital a couple of days later. The Judge awarded life imprisonment to Ramachandran and Krishnan.
