Training centre inaugurated at PPG Institute of Technology

Representatives of TUV Rheinland (India) Pvt. Ltd. and PPG Institute of Technology taking a look at the PPGIT-TUV Rheinland Centre for Training on Renewable Energy after its inauguration in Coimbatore.

A Centre for Training on Renewable Energy (Windmill Training Centre) was opened at PPG Institute of Technology here recently.

The centre was the outcome of a memorandum of understanding the institute had with TUV Rheinland (India) Pvt. Ltd.

The centre consists of various parts and machinery that a wind mill possesses, and its scope of training includes design, installation, service and maintenance of windmill technology.

Timothy Miller, General Manager of the company, said that the centre would not only conduct special training programmes, but also conduct research activities in renewable energy.

P. Prabhakaran, Country Head, Training and Consulting of the company, explained the training programmes that would be made available at the training centre, which was the first-of-its-kind in the country, complete with horizontal and vertical windmills, solar photo voltaic power panels, etc.

The centre was expected to meet the demand for the need of trained windmill technicians in India.

L.P. Thangavelu, Chairman of PPG Group of Institutions, spoke on the significance of the training programmes that the centre would offer in the renewable energy sector.
