Traffic Police clean anganwadi premises

Traffic Police personnel from the Coimbatore East sub division were busy moving their arms at the Singanallur Junction on Sunday morning. There were not regulating traffic with the stop/go signs, but had spade, cleaning materials, brush, paint, etc. in their hands to clean an anganwadi there.

Inspector K. Udhayakumar said that based on instructions from the Commissioner of Police, A.K. Viswanathan, and guidance from Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic, T.K. Rajendran, around 30 personnel led by Assistant Commissioner R. Ramakrishnan cleaned the anganwadi premises and white-washed the buildings there.

The work started at 8.30 a.m. and was over at 12.30 p.m.

The Commissioner was at the spot to inspect the work, he said and added that it was part of the community service initiative the police personnel were engaged based on instructions from the Commissioner.

Four women constables also participated in the work.

It may be recalled that the Coimbatore City Traffic Police were into community service projects for the last one-and-a-half years taking up cleaning of schools during week-ends.
